The other days, Apple released a brand new iOS version, which was meant to fix some older problems and issues regarding the mapping application and some other minor issues. The iOS 6.1 is only a beta version and it is designed for developer use only. In this way, Apple gives developers the opportunity of trying and testing their products in order to prepare them for a future update. The good news is the fact that as soon as the iOS 6.1 beta 1 was released on the market, developers already figured out a way in which they can jailbreak it. However, jailbreak for iOS 6.1 is only available for A4-based devices such as iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4th generation.
Redsnow 0.9.15b3 was updated and it offers support for jailbreaking iOS 6.1. If you want to start jailbreaking your device running iOS 6.1, here is what you need to do:
1. First, if you have not upgraded to iOS 6.1 yet, you need to do it now.
2. Download Redsnow 0.9.15b3 and install it on your computer. I want to mention that Redsnow is available for Windows and Mac.
3. Launch the program while you connect your device to your computer and put it in the DFU mode.
4. Once Redsnow opens, you need to click on the Extras menu. This will lead you to the IPSW menu. At this moment, you need to select the firmware running on your device. Once you selected it, you need to click on Back.
5. Click on the Jailbreak option and wait until the program completed the jailbreak process.
This should be all. At this moment, your device is jailbroken and you can fully use Cydia and your free device. I want to mention once again the fact that jailbreak for iOS 6.1 is only a tethered one and you need to boot into a jailbreak mode each time you turn off your device. For this step, you need to launch Redsnow again, click on Extras, select the IPSW and click on Just Boot option. This should be all. Enjoy your device and look out for the best Cydia apps on Cydia Store.
